Volumetric Cup Fillers
Volumetric cup fillers offer the oldest and simplest
way to fill dry, free-flow products of consistent
density such as rice, popcorn, granulated sugar,
beans, nuts, coffee and kitty litter.
Cup sizes may range from 1: in
diameter to 6" and, depending upon the model, can be
as long as 25". This range can accommodate
volumes from 0.5 cubic inch to 700 cubic inches for
different package sizes. Although fill rates
vary based on product and package size, speeds of up
to 160 fills per minute are obtainable on some
models.
Various models address a variety
of packaging scenarios ranging from a simple hand
fill to interlacing with automatic equipment such as
vertical form/fill/seal machines and automatic
conveyors. Mutliple drop units are also
available.

The Process
Illustrated
Measuring cups, sized to the
amount of product to be measured and filled, are
inserted between a set of plates.
As the plates rotate, each
cup passes beneath the feed hopper and is
filled.

Each cup is filled and
emptied in a smooth rhythmic cycle.

The plate continues its
rotation, and when the fill cup arrives at the
fill spout the product is dropped through the
container below.
